HSE Officer – Near Kimberley, Northern Cape

About the role

Our client, a leading construction firm operating in the Kimberley region, is seeking an experienced HSE Officer on a contract basis. The role involves ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance across civil, mechanical and electrical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure site safety compliance with the OHS Act and project‑specific requirements.
• Conduct baseline, issue‑based and continuous risk assessments.
• Compile, maintain and update project safety files.
• Report, investigate and close out incidents, near‑misses and non‑conformances.
• Monitor contractor compliance across civil, mechanical and electrical activities.
• Perform daily site inspections and enforce corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and submit reports to management.
• Ensure emergency procedures and equipment are functional and ready.

Required profile

• Recognised HSE qualification (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, SHEQ Diploma).
• Minimum three years’ experience as an HSE Officer in civil, mechanical or electrical project environments.
• Strong knowledge of the OHS Act and construction‑site safety practices.
• Ability to work independently on remote sites near Kimberley.
• Clear communication and reporting skills.
• Valid driver’s licence (advantageous).
