HSE Manager – Wind Farm Construction

About the role

The HSE Manager will lead health, safety and environmental activities on a wind‑farm construction site, ensuring compliance with legislation, ISO standards and client requirements. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on implementation to protect people, assets and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the CR8(5) on the wind farm when required.
• Maintain legal compliance with the OHS Act, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and all relevant customer and regulatory standards.
• Deliver internal training programmes, including inductions and proper PPE usage.
• Develop, review and distribute daily risk assessments and ensure they are correctly completed.
• Chair monthly safety meetings with safety representatives and contractors, preparing minutes and follow‑up actions.
• Manage subcontractor safety performance and enforce the requirement for a complete safety file before work begins.
• Create and test emergency response plans, evacuation procedures and first‑aid protocols.
• Monitor environmental management programmes, waste handling and pollution control.
• Investigate accidents, near‑misses and incidents, analyse trends and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare daily monitoring reports and detailed incident/compliance documentation.

Required profile

• Several years of construction safety experience, preferably on wind‑farm, substation or transmission line projects.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Strong knowledge of OHS Act, construction regulations and first‑aid Level 3.
• Understanding of OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Familiarity with applicable legislation and basic HR/Labour law concepts.
