HR & Payroll Generalist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Generalist to join our hospitality team. The role blends people‑focused HR duties with precise payroll administration, offering a dynamic environment for a hands‑on professional.

Key responsibilities

• Process fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles, including overtime, tips, commissions, leave, deductions, promotions and terminations.
• Prepare salary journals, reconciliations, and statutory submissions to SARS, UIF and COIDA.
• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, onboarding and employee relations.
• Support managers with disciplinary actions, performance management and probation monitoring.
• Maintain accurate employee records, ESS, pension fund administration and payroll data.
• Coordinate performance reviews, training, wellness and engagement initiatives.
• Produce HR and payroll reports, assist with audits and statutory compliance.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Management or related field.
• Payroll qualification or demonstrable payroll experience.
• 3–5 years in a generalist HR role with payroll responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, PAYE, UIF, COIDA).
• Excellent communication in English and Afrikaans, high confidentiality and professionalism.
