HR Manager – South Africa (Midrand)

About the role

As a proactive member of the RSA Leadership team, the HR Manager will drive the McCormick culture and execute the people agenda for the South African site in Midrand. The role partners with country leaders to support business growth, capability building and employee engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HR agenda for South Africa, aligning with the global HR team to support business growth and capability development.
• Manage employee relations, including union engagement and complex case resolution.
• Oversee organisational design, workforce planning, recruitment, performance and talent management.
• Drive employee engagement activities, talent succession processes and transformation initiatives.
• Accountable for site payroll, SOX controls and new hire processes.
• Collaborate with HR Centres of Expertise (Compensation & Benefits, Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition, Internal Communications) to ensure best‑practice HR processes.
• Provide HR expertise to leaders and cross‑functional teams, operationalising strategic HR programmes at site and regional levels.
• Participate in regional and global HR projects supporting operational excellence.

Required profile

• Relevant HR qualification and proven experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager in a commercial/operations environment.
• Demonstrated success working with site unions and handling complex employee‑relations cases.
• Experience delivering change and transformation initiatives in collaboration with local RSA leadership.
• Strong knowledge of South African employment legislation.
• Ability to influence and build relationships at all organisational levels, locally and globally.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience using SAP for HR processes.
