HR Manager

About the role

The HR Manager will provide strategic Human Resources leadership and partnership to the Boshoek Smelter operation. Reporting to the General Manager, the role is responsible for implementing the Group People Strategy and ensuring consistent application of HR policies, while fostering strong employee and union relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership to align people initiatives with business objectives and provide strategic HR advice.
• Implement and embed the Group People Strategy, HR frameworks, policies and standards across the operation.
• Drive recruitment, performance management, succession planning and talent acquisition to build a high‑performance culture.
• Develop and maintain constructive relationships with recognised trade unions, lead collective bargaining, wage negotiations and Section 189/197 restructuring processes.
• Provide guidance on disciplinary, grievance, incapacity and dispute resolution matters.
• Represent the company at CCMA, Bargaining Council, Labour Court and other dispute‑resolution forums.
• Lead the IDEAL Framework to promote inclusivity, diversity, equality and advancement.
• Monitor workforce metrics, organisational design and turnover, delivering insights for informed decision‑making.
• Oversee employment equity targets, workforce representation and succession pipelines.

Required profile

• Proven ability to provide strategic HR advice to senior leadership.
• Experience in union negotiations, collective bargaining and Section 189/197 restructuring processes.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and employment equity requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, talent acquisition and retention.
• Capability to lead organisational change, performance management and leadership development initiatives.
