HR Consultant

About the role

We are seeking an HR Consultant based in Pretoria to deliver professional HR and labour‑relations support to both management and employees. The role ensures fair, consistent and legally compliant handling of employee‑relations matters and workplace issues.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice and guidance on labour‑relations and employee‑related matters.
• Manage disciplinary and grievance processes in line with company policies and South African labour legislation.
• Assist with misconduct, incapacity and poor‑performance procedures.
• Support managers in handling employee relations and workplace conflict.
• Conduct investigations into employee complaints and workplace issues.
• Prepare documentation for disciplinary hearings, grievances and other labour matters.
• Represent or assist the company in labour dispute‑resolution processes when required.
• Advise on employment contracts, HR policies and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with applicable legislation and company policies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee and labour‑relations records.
• Provide regular reports on labour‑relations trends.
• Assist with HR projects, audits and policy reviews as needed.
• Promote positive employee relations and effective communication within the organisation.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Psychology or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in HR and/or labour‑relations.
• Practical knowledge of South African labour legislation, including the Labour Relations Act and Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
• Experience handling disciplinary and grievance procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
