Head of Programmes & Delivery

About the role

The Head of Programmes & Delivery will provide strategic and operational leadership across all programme streams of Tomorrow Trust, ensuring high‑quality implementation and alignment with organisational priorities. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role strengthens programme management systems and supports team leadership to achieve positive education outcomes for South African children and young people.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across programme streams and regions, aligning delivery with donor commitments, budgets and KPIs.
• Drive integration, consistency and continuous improvement of programme implementation and delivery systems.
• Lead, support and develop programme managers, fostering a high‑performing, values‑driven culture.
• Oversee programme planning, implementation tracking, reporting cycles and operational coordination.
• Strengthen monitoring, reporting and data quality in collaboration with the M&E function.
• Support donor engagement, reporting and ensure commitments are met.
• Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners such as district governments and tertiary institutions.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation while ensuring compliance with financial controls and governance.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Management or related field.
• At least 5 years senior leadership experience combined with programme management in the education or non‑profit sector.
• Proven track record of leading multi‑site or multi‑programme operations.
• Strong people‑management, accountability and performance‑management capabilities.
