About the role

This high‑impact leadership role is for a finance professional who will shape and scale the financial backbone of a fast‑growing, consumer‑focused digital business. Based in South Africa, you will be the first in‑house finance leader, building structure, rigor, and strategic clarity across all financial operations in a remote‑first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic planning, including growth projections, scenario modeling, headcount planning, and cash‑flow management.
• Own budgeting processes and provide leadership with clear visibility into financial trade‑offs, risks, and performance drivers.
• Maintain investor‑ready financial models, reporting structures, and board materials to support fundraising and strategic discussions.
• Oversee inventory accounting, cost controls, and reconciliation processes across revenue, expenses, cash flow, and COGS.
• Establish robust financial controls, audit‑ready processes, and reliable month‑end close procedures in compliance with accounting standards.

Required profile

• 5‑10+ years of experience in finance, FP&A, accounting, or operational finance roles, preferably in high‑growth or startup environments.
• Strong expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning.
• Proven experience managing inventory‑heavy or product‑based financial operations.
• Strong accounting foundation; CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
• Ability to balance strategic advisory responsibilities with hands‑on financial execution.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Sage.
• Strong systems‑thinking mindset for building finance processes from the ground up.
