Head of Academics (Grades 4‑9) – Remote

About the role

This fully remote senior position leads the academic programme for Grades 4‑9 in an online school. You will shape curriculum quality, monitor learner progress and support a distributed team of educators.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of educators across Grades 4‑9.
• Set and uphold academic standards while fostering a collaborative culture.
• Oversee curriculum mapping, coursework development, assessments, moderation, textbooks and resources.
• Monitor learner performance, benchmark assessments and intervene for learners of concern.
• Coordinate with senior academic leadership to align Grades 4‑9 with Grades 10‑12.
• Support educator workflow, provide feedback and identify professional development needs.
• Assist with performance management processes as required.
• Maintain quality across workshops, masterclasses, reporting and other academic touchpoints.
• Oversee academic functionality within school management systems and explore digital tools that enhance teaching and learning.
• Support recruitment and selection of new educators.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification and relevant degree.
• At least 5 years of teaching experience across varied curricula and online settings.
• Minimum 2 years of academic leadership or management experience at Head of Academics level or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment, moderation and learner progression.
• Confidence working with systems, processes and academic planning.
• High initiative, independence and ownership.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration.
