Head Internal Audit - Technology

About the role

Liberty is seeking a highly experienced Head Internal Audit professional focused on its technology portfolio, based in Johannesburg. The role drives the internal audit strategy, delivering objective assurance and high-level advisory services across the business and managing technology-driven risks within the financial services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and review internal audit processes for various technology portfolios, aligned with Group Internal Audit strategy.
• Provide independent, objective, risk-based assurance on technology infrastructure, security and application controls.
• Analyse complex data sets to identify emerging trends and support risk management.
• Maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Lead and mentor large teams through organisational change and transformation.
• Champion the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI to improve the audit function.
• Ensure all audits meet international internal audit practices and governance frameworks.

Required profile

• Postgraduate or undergraduate degree in IT, Computer Science or Information Systems.
• Valid CISA, CIA or equivalent ISACA certification (CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, CCAK).
• Minimum 10 years in project or programme management, with a track record of leading audit or advisory projects.
• Previous experience in an audit firm, banking/insurance or telecommunications is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to build and lead large teams and significant change management experience.
