Post-Investment Associate Principal

About the role

Edge Growth Ventures manages one of South Africa's leading Impact Funds, which backs high-growth, early-stage businesses that create employment and economic inclusion. It is looking for a Post-Investment Associate Principal to manage and grow a portfolio of impact investments, handling day-to-day portfolio management, value creation and strategic oversight of the active portfolio and its underlying SMEs.

Key responsibilities

• Support portfolio companies with financial analysis and modelling, strategy development, execution management, business building, access to new markets and raising capital
• Own each investee from deal-team handover through to exit, and help ensure financial reporting, systems and processes meet required standards
• Develop and deliver special projects such as company restructures and turnarounds, and prepare regular portfolio updates for stakeholders
• Review follow-on funding requests and investment proposals to the Investment Committee, and drive performance against scorecard targets
• Assist with monitoring and compliance information, and manage investee non-compliance and legal amendments
• Ensure good governance at investee and fund level, and oversee growth support initiatives
• Help improve internal processes, procedures and policies for better portfolio management delivery

Required profile

• Primary: 5+ years of impact or venture capital investing experience, preferably post-investment
• Secondary: 5+ years in audit, private equity or a related role
• An MBA, CA(SA) or CFA is advantageous; a postgraduate degree with a strong problem-solving background (e.g. engineering, actuarial science, statistics, finance, business science) is also valued
