Handyman – General Maintenance & Facility Support

About the role

Pragma is seeking a hands‑on Handyman to support a variety of manufacturing and service businesses. You will perform first‑line maintenance, inspections and minor repairs while adhering to strict safety guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of buildings, work areas and production zones.
• Carry out minor repairs on doors, windows, floors, walls, ceilings and roofing.
• Maintain plumbing systems, including taps, pipes, toilets and drainage.
• Repair and replace basic electrical fittings such as lights, switches and plugs.
• Assist with minor mechanical repairs on textile machinery and support machine relocation.
• Perform basic lubrication, preventative maintenance and first‑line fault assessments.
• Record all maintenance activities in the CMMS or logbook and complete job cards accurately.

Required profile

• Minimum matric qualification; tertiary qualification is advantageous.
• At least 2 years of general maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably textile.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle (advantageous).
• Willingness to receive training on asset‑management principles and HSSE.

Required skills

• Welding (certificate preferred).
• Basic plumbing skills.
• Low‑voltage electrical knowledge.
• Mechanical maintenance competence.
• General painting and facility upkeep.
• Use of CMMS for work order tracking.
• Understanding of safety and HSSE compliance.
