About the role

Reddam House Constantia, a top-performing IEB school in the Constantia Valley offering education from Stage 1 to Grade 12, is looking for a Grade 5 and 6 teacher. The role centres on taking a holistic view of students, promoting their progress and well-being, and creating a positive learning and sports environment that motivates students to reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present engaging lessons in a nurturing environment that promotes engaged learning.
• Be punctual, professional and set high standards of work, including marking homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice, and take part in personal and school-wide professional development.
• Teach extra lessons when required, on two afternoons per week.
• Produce high-quality resources for students.
• Respond to parent e-mails and calls within 24 hours.
• Set and mark exams and other student evaluations, and write comment reports.
• Attend special occasions at the discretion of the Head and carry out other reasonable tasks asked by the School Head or line manager.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years' experience teaching students in the Intermediate Phase (Grades 5-7).
• Previous experience with IEB programmes and in a high-performing international school.
• University degree in an appropriate subject and certified teaching status (SACE).
• Appropriate right to work.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, students and parents, and excellent organisational skills.
