Global Business Development Associate (South Africa)

About the role

GEC Media Group is looking for a Global Business Development Associate based in Cape Town. The role owns end-to-end sales cycles, selling integrated solutions across its Global CIO Forum IP portfolio (events, roundtables, webinars, publications and community initiatives) and driving consistent revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Map the regional ecosystem, track market trends and competitors, and build a database of target accounts and stakeholders.
• Drive multi-channel lead generation (cold outreach, referrals, LinkedIn, partnerships, events) and keep the pipeline healthy and predictable.
• Secure meetings with key decision-makers and qualify leads using BANT or similar frameworks.
• Sell integrated solutions across the CIO Forum IPs and consistently exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
• Build long-term relationships with strategic clients, acting as a trusted advisor and driving growth through upselling, cross-selling and renewals.
• Craft tailored proposals and work with marketing, content and delivery teams to deliver sold projects.
• Maintain sales forecasts and pipeline reports, track KPIs such as conversion rate, deal size and sales cycle, and use CRM tools effectively.

Required profile

• Strong B2B sales experience, preferably in events, media or tech ecosystems.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
• Ability to engage and influence C-level executives.
• Strategic thinking with strong execution capability and a high ownership mindset.

Required skills

• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• CRM proficiency and a data-driven approach to sales.
