General Workers – Municipal Services

About the role

The municipality is seeking general workers to support a range of essential services across Sasolburg, Deneysville and Oranjeville. The role involves manual labour, maintenance, sanitation and water network duties, requiring physical fitness and the ability to work in varied conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute works orders using provided tools, including tree pruning and garden maintenance.
• Collect and transport refuse from dwellings, streets, open spaces and businesses, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
• Perform sanitation tasks such as night‑soil collection, drain clearing, and sewer maintenance.
• Carry out water‑network maintenance, including repairing burst pipes and valve leakages.
• Undertake general road and construction maintenance, including material handling, sign erection and surface preparation.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace, using safety clothing and equipment, and reporting hazards.

Required profile

• Basic literacy (Grade 10 preferred).
• At least one year of relevant experience.
• Physically fit and able to pass a general fitness test and medical check‑up.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and outside normal hours for emergencies and overtime.
• Good communication, workplace safety awareness and service‑delivery orientation.

What we offer

• Annual salary ranging from ZAR 128 924.91 to ZAR 131 757.44 (post level 17).
