About the role
The Department of Water and Sanitation is seeking two General Foremen to oversee routine and structural maintenance at gauging stations across the Western Cape. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting technical projects related to water monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor subordinates, including transport to and from sites.
- Implement planned routine and structural maintenance activities at gauging stations (painting, weed control, steel component replacement, etc.).
- Carry out refurbishment projects and construct gauging weirs and related infrastructure.
- Conduct inspections, perform basic risk assessments, and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Maintain machinery, equipment, tools, and camping facilities; clear and maintain access roads.
- Report faults, defects, and safety hazards promptly to supervisors.
