General Worker – Water & Sanitation Maintenance (2 positions)

About the role
We are seeking two General Workers to support routine and structural maintenance at gauging stations across rivers, canals, dams and related water infrastructure in the Western Cape.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, weed control, and vegetation clearing using hand and power tools.
- Carry out structural repairs including steel component replacement and embankment stabilisation.
- Maintain and refurbish access roads and gauging stations, and construct gauging weirs.
- Assist with technical tasks like instrument installations and flood monitoring.
- Load, unload, and care for machinery, equipment, tools and materials.
- Report faults, defects and safety hazards promptly and comply with occupational health and safety regulations.
Required profile
- Willingness to work away from the office for extended periods in field conditions.
- Ability to work safely in or near rivers, dams and canals.
