General Assistant – Pharmaceutical Production

About the role

The General Assistant will support daily pharmaceutical production activities, ensuring work areas and equipment are prepared, clean, and inspected. This role involves handling raw materials, performing environmental checks, and assisting with documentation to maintain high quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, clean, and inspect work areas and equipment before and after production.
• Handle, stage, dispense, weigh, and transfer raw materials according to SOPs.
• Perform visual inspections, pre‑production checks, and verify scale performance.
• Set up production rooms, IBCs, and prepare solutions as required.
• Collect samples, flush drains, and control contamination.
• Assist with sorting defective products and waste minimisation.
• Complete batch record labels, OEE sheets, and other required documentation.
• Participate in shift meetings and report operational issues.

Required profile

• National Certification (N3), Matric, National Senior Certificate or NQF 4.
• 0–2 years of related experience; manufacturing experience is an advantage.
• Ability to follow procedures, gather information, and take appropriate action.

Required skills

• Basic technical knowledge of pharmaceutical production processes, procedures, systems and equipment.
• Basic understanding of pharmaceutical standards and compliance requirements.
