Frontshop Assistant

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a Frontshop Assistant to maintain merchandising standards and deliver excellent customer service at the point of sale. You will ensure shelves are fully stocked, products are presented neatly, and customers receive friendly assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Keep product ranges fully displayed and ensure items are not past their sell‑by dates.
• Restock merchandise, handle out‑of‑stock queries and follow up promptly.
• Maintain accurate shelf labels, pricing and report any discrepancies.
• Organise the storeroom, receive deliveries and store items correctly.
• Process all transactions, including cash, cards, vouchers and loyalty cards, following cash‑handling procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation, stocktaking and reporting of low, damaged or expired stock.
• Provide courteous, helpful assistance to customers and handle complaints or compliments.
• Support new team members through training and back‑shopping when required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
• 0–6 months retail experience (junior level).
• Advantageous: 1 year retail experience and certification in Retail Business Management.
