Foreign Banks Network Management Specialist (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

This fixed‑term position within FNB’s Foreign Banks Network Management team is based in Johannesburg and serves as the senior technical subject‑matter expert for correspondent banking, foreign currency clearing, nostro and custody operations across the FirstRand Group.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical authority on correspondent banking, foreign currency clearing, nostro and custody operations.
• Lead complex KYC, RMA and regulatory governance processes with correspondent banks.
• Conduct structured service reviews, monitor provider performance against service levels and drive remediation.
• Act as senior escalation point for unresolved correspondent banking payment issues.
• Provide technical input, analysis and benchmarking to support commercial negotiations, RFPs and RFIs.
• Contribute specialist expertise to the design and execution of strategic network initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Accounting or a related field (post‑graduate qualification advantageous).
• 4–7 years of banking experience in correspondent banking, foreign currency clearing, nostro or custody operations.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a specialist capacity and engage senior internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of correspondent banking principles, SWIFT messaging standards and international payments.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong data‑analysis capabilities.
• Experience in vendor performance management, pricing analysis and benchmarking.
• Understanding of process design, operational control and risk‑management frameworks.
