Financial Reporting Manager

About the role

Absa is looking for a Financial Reporting Manager to lead and oversee the Bank's financial reporting and financial control processes. The role ensures that financial results are complete, accurate, well-substantiated and delivered on time, in line with IFRS, local statutory and regulatory requirements and Group Accounting and Financial Control policies.

Key responsibilities

• Own and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, hard close and year-end close processes, ensuring the Trial Balance is closed accurately and within the approved timetable.
• Lead the end-to-end preparation and review of annual and interim financial statements, including primary statements, notes, disclosure schedules and supporting working papers.
• Lead account ownership, reconciliation and balance sheet attestation, ensuring all general ledger accounts are substantiated, reviewed and attested within policy timelines.
• Coordinate internal and external audit deliverables, including allocation and tracking of requests, provision of audit evidence, resolution of accounting matters and closure of findings.
• Maintain a strong technical understanding of IFRS standards and lead implementation projects for new or amended standards, covering impact assessments, accounting papers, systems, data, controls, disclosures and training.
• Provide technical accounting advice on complex transactions, new products, accounting judgements, estimates, classifications and disclosure requirements.
• Build working relationships across Finance, Risk, Treasury, Tax, Operations, Technology, Internal Audit, external auditors and Group stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required).
