Financial Business Analyst (2 positions)

About the role

The Financial Business Analyst will provide accurate financial analysis, reporting and commentary to support strategic decision‑making and course correction. This role involves month‑end and year‑end closing, variance analysis, budgeting and supporting financial initiatives within a petroleum retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying variances, trends and providing clear commentary against budget and forecast.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing activities, prepare journals, accruals and reclassifications, and ensure timely reconciliations.
• Review balance‑sheet movements, investigate abnormal fluctuations and resolve reconciling items.
• Manage RAS master data, including record creation, variance analysis and system updates.
• Support annual business planning, budgeting and forecasting by translating strategic plans into accurate financial forecasts.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure audit requirements are met.
• Provide financial support for identified initiatives and projects from planning through execution.

Required profile

• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in accounting, finance, reporting or analytics.
• Experience in costing, internal controls, risk management, data analysis and visualisation.
• Preferably qualified as CA (SA) or CIMA.
• At least 2 years of experience in petroleum retail.

• SAP and SAC experience.
