Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Financial Accountant to own the company’s full finance function. You will manage the complete accounting cycle, ensure accurate reporting and maintain strong financial controls using Xero.

Key responsibilities

• Process the end‑to‑end accounting cycle, including journal entries and month‑end close.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and support the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Perform VAT calculations, customer and supplier reconciliations, and cash‑flow management.
• Ensure statutory compliance and maintain effective financial controls.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting, BCompt or equivalent qualification with completed SAICA articles.
• 3–4 years of relevant accounting and auditing experience, including managing a full accounting function independently.
• Experience preparing management accounts and supporting annual financial statements.
• Experience in a high‑volume trading environment (fuel, petroleum, energy) is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero or a similar accounting system.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of VAT and tax compliance.
• Customer and supplier reconciliations.
• Cash‑flow management.
