Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will deliver accurate and timely accounting, financial reporting and balance‑sheet control for the Vitality Finance Reporting area. Reporting to the Team Leader, the role supports risk mitigation, process improvement and cost‑efficiency initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review accounting journals, ensuring compliance with approved controls.
• Maintain complete balance‑sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation.
• Investigate reconciling items, unusual transactions and aged balances within reporting timelines.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including variance and trend analysis.
• Prepare financial commentary on material movements, risks and emerging issues.
• Assist in budget preparation, forecasting and budget‑versus‑actual tracking.
• Review supplier orders, invoices, staff reimbursements and management expenses within delegated authority.
• Coordinate internal and external audit evidence and follow‑up on findings.

Required profile

• BCom degree or equivalent with a major in Accounting or Financial Accounting.
• Minimum two years of experience in financial accounting or finance reporting.
• Practical experience in month‑end reporting, journal processing, balance‑sheet reconciliations and audit support.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and financial‑control principles.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data validation, large‑dataset analysis).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Understanding and application of IFRS standards.
