Financial Accountant – French Speaking (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

This position is responsible for preparing and maintaining the financial accounting records of group companies in line with IFRS standards. The role requires a French‑speaking professional who can ensure accurate, timely reporting and support the business through insightful analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Review the general ledger on a monthly basis and provide feedback to corporate accountants.
• Collaborate with business units to validate account balances and ensure accuracy.
• Execute quarterly and year‑end reporting schedules for group accounting submissions.
• Oversee balance‑sheet planning for an assigned business segment.
• Coordinate with external auditors to complete audits within agreed timelines.
• Supervise and mentor an assistant accountant.
• Handle multi‑currency intercompany accounting and related reconciliations.
• Implement new IFRS standards and manage IFRS 16 lease accounting.
• Prepare annual financial statements for non‑South African entities and explain standard impacts to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Accounting or a related field.
• Chartered Accountant (CA SA) accreditation.
• Minimum five years of experience in a finance function.
• Strong ethical standards and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to keep up‑to‑date with evolving accounting standards.
• Experience building capability in others through training and feedback.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Proficiency with Caseware software.
• Experience with SAP ERP (advantageous).
