Finance Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to support our finance team in Cape Town. The role involves routine financial calculations, invoice processing and assisting with month‑end reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine calculations and produce analysis reports as requested.
• Create, send and follow up on creditor, debtor and sales invoices.
• Reconcile discrepancies and ensure adherence to company financial policies.
• Open client accounts with third parties and maintain cashbook records.
• Assist procurement by processing purchase orders and sorting GRNs.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare monthly journal entries.
• Communicate with SARS, file VAT/EMP returns and process payments via ERP and bank platforms.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts, support investment tracking and contribute to cost‑saving initiatives.
• Manage asset accounting, including depreciation, additions and disposals.
• Support foreign transactions, imports/exports and customs payments.
• Assist colleagues with daily tasks and year‑end procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with N4 Financial Management Certificate or a Diploma in Financial/Cost Accounting.
• 2–3 years of relevant financial experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using an ERP system for payments and reporting.
