Farm Supervisor - Broilers (Animal Science)

About the role

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products operating in five provinces, is looking for a thorough and committed Farm Supervisor for its Broiler operations in the Agriculture division. The supervisor assists in achieving the company's targeted Broiler performance KPIs, reports to the Farm Manager and holds the TASK Grade T06.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to Broiler KPI achievement on the facility (mortality, weight, FCR, PEF, costs)
• Provide optimal growing conditions through optimised settings on climate controllers and heating systems
• Ensure operational SOPs are followed and report non-conformance
• Complete reports, utilities and production system records accurately and on time
• Enforce strict biological risk compliance
• Achieve 98% SHEQ audit compliance and help the facility reach NOSA accreditation
• Maintain infrastructure through timely corrective and preventative maintenance
• Promote teamwork, skills and talent development, and mitigate risk through alarm response, setting verification and alarm reduction

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a tertiary qualification in a field related to intensive agriculture or poultry production
• 1 year of supervisory experience
• Preference given to applicants of designated groups under the Employment Equity Act
