Facilities Manager - Commercial

About the role

The Facilities Manager will oversee building operations and maintenance across multiple commercial office facilities, ensuring optimal performance, compliance and cost‑effectiveness while supporting strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, implement and monitor Capex and OPEX budgets, reporting on financial performance and utility recoveries.
• Develop and execute maintenance plans, manage planned maintenance activities and oversee refurbishments, redevelopments and TI projects.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, conduct inspections and liaise with tenants to address non‑compliance.
• Identify and implement performance‑optimising initiatives such as water‑saving and greening projects.
• Lead procurement and supplier management aligned with company objectives.
• Oversee health and safety requirements, risk mitigation and corrective actions.
• Manage and develop the facilities team, including building managers and handymen, and coordinate recruitment in line with transformation policies.
• Handle administrative duties such as order issuance, invoice processing, report writing and maintenance of asset registers and schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of facilities and built environment experience, preferably in commercial office settings.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (BSc or equivalent) in Engineering or Construction Management; membership of the Engineering Council of SA advantageous.
• Proven experience managing Capex/Opex budgets, planned maintenance, refurbishments and small‑to‑medium capital works.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to liaise with clients, service providers and regulatory bodies.
