Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences

About the role

The University of Maryland Extension is seeking a tenure‑track Extension Educator in the Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) program. Based in Caroline County, Maryland, the role will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of interdisciplinary educational programs that promote health, financial wellness and community development across the Eastern Shore and statewide.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and assess educational programs addressing financial literacy, housing, public health and economic development for youth and adult audiences.
• Conduct community needs assessments and develop research‑based curricula and outreach activities.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with state agencies, nonprofits, schools and businesses to support program goals.
• Lead applied research projects, publish findings and contribute to the FCS Program Leader’s strategic direction.
• Collaborate with Extension clusters and FCS teams to create culturally responsive workshops, webinars, trainings and blended learning experiences.

• Ability to secure and manage partnerships with public and private sector stakeholders.
