Explosives Operator – Watergel Plant (Grade 1)

About the role

The Watergel Plant is seeking three Grade 1 Explosives Operators to prepare the work area for start‑up and packaging, manage labeling, and ensure safe handling of explosive cartridges. You will work closely with machine operators and mixers to keep production flowing smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare work areas, open and pack boxes, and operate the label‑sticker machine and scanner.
• Weigh, inspect and shut down explosive cartridges according to the operating manual.
• Maintain safety equipment, tools and a clean plant environment.
• Communicate production schedule issues with KP machine operators and mixers.
• Support maintenance activities and perform quality checks on manufactured products.
• Report daily production figures, breakdowns and manually update production graphs.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• At least 12 months experience in explosives manufacturing.
• Experience in a water‑gel plant is an advantage.

Required skills

• Label sticker machine operation.
• Scanner operation.
• Cartridge weighing and inspection.
• Safety equipment handling.
• Knowledge of ISO, CIE and 5S compliance.
