Experienced Theatre Operating Room Nurse

About the role

Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre, advertised through Lenmed, is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse for its Theatre Operating Room (OR). The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect nursing care, assessment, planning, execution and supervision of care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in line with the Scope of Practice and take full responsibility for it
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Attend shift handover reports at the start of each shift
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care and promote their health and wellbeing
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure stock is well controlled, managed, charged and credited correctly
• Maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Relevant qualification and 2 years of experience in the specialist area of Theatre
• Previous experience in a Theatre Operating environment is essential
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
• Capacity to uphold health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation
