Experienced Maintenance Fitter – High-Speed Packaging

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our Durban Tea Factory. You will maintain and repair high‑speed packaging equipment and other machinery, reporting to the Engineering Foreman. The focus is on ensuring optimal plant performance and minimizing downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on high‑speed packaging lines.
• Plan and execute plant shutdowns.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and recommend improvements.
• Record maintenance data in the CMMS (Shopware).
• Assist with equipment commissioning and drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and promote safe working practices.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience with high‑speed packaging machinery.
• N3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Mechanical Fitter Trade Test certification.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Availability for shift work.

Required skills

• Proficient welding (TIG & Arc).
• Machining skills (lathe, surface grinder, milling).
• Strong fault‑finding abilities.
• Knowledge of CMMS (Shopware).
• Basic design and fabrication of steel structures.
• Familiarity with continuous‑improvement methodologies.
