Experienced ICU Registered Nurse – Gauteng

About the role

Join a leading private hospital in Johannesburg as an ICU Experienced Registered Nurse. You will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care to critically ill patients in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in line with hospital policies and best practices.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor vital signs, clinical status, and response to treatment.
• Recognise and act promptly on changes in patient conditions.
• Administer prescribed medication, intravenous therapy, and other treatments safely and accurately.
• Operate and monitor ICU equipment according to protocols.
• Assist with procedures and interventions within the ICU.
• Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, control measures, and patient safety standards.
• Collaborate with doctors and the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
• Provide education and support to patients' families when appropriate.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in General Nursing.
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• 3–5 years of ICU nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Operation of ICU monitoring equipment.
• IV therapy administration.
• Medication administration.
• Infection prevention and control practices.
