Equity Valuations and Reporting Specialist

About the role

The Equity Valuations and Reporting Specialist is responsible for valuing, monitoring and reporting the organisation’s equity and equity‑related investment portfolio. The role provides analytical insights to support financial decision‑making, governance oversight and compliance with accounting and valuation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform periodic valuations of equity investments using DCF, comparable company analysis and other market‑based techniques.
• Develop, maintain and update financial models used to assess the equity portfolio.
• Review financial statements, forecasts and market data to support valuation assumptions.
• Ensure valuations comply with applicable accounting standards, internal policies and valuation guidelines.
• Identify valuation risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Monitor financial and operational performance of portfolio companies and analyse trends and risk indicators.
• Prepare regular monitoring and valuation reports, dashboards and performance analyses for management and governance committees.
• Present valuation outcomes to internal stakeholders and maintain documentation supporting assumptions and calculations.
• Support internal and external audit processes related to equity valuation and reporting.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, National Treasury, rating agencies, investors and funders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in equity valuation, financial modelling and portfolio monitoring.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and market data.
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and valuation guidelines.
• Attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate reports.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
