Enterprise Architect - Infrastructure

About the role

Valterra Platinum, formerly Anglo American Platinum, is looking for an Enterprise Architect - Infrastructure in Johannesburg. The role defines and governs the enterprise technology infrastructure architecture so that it aligns with business objectives, operational needs and industry best practice. It covers enterprise-wide infrastructure strategy, cloud, networking, service management and automation, with the aim of growing revenue, optimizing costs, mitigating risks and improving sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Create a safety culture through authorized operational systems and processes, and ensure safety and health principles are applied consistently.
• Develop and maintain the infrastructure architecture framework and cloud strategy, keeping it aligned with business priorities, scalable and compliant with regulations.
• Position the EA practice as an internal management consultancy and build a governance model with standards, reference patterns and guardrails.
• Evaluate and recommend infrastructure solutions, and define cloud, hybrid and SaaS strategies.
• Analyze infrastructure costs and identify areas for cost reduction.
• Ensure infrastructure complies with cybersecurity, privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Work with business units, the CIO, IT security teams and other IT groups to drive infrastructure modernization, and support digital transformation and change management.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture and with emerging technologies.
• Implement an inclusive, high-performing culture and ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, system analysis or a related field, or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is desirable.
• 5-7 years of experience in infrastructure architecture, cloud architecture or digital transformation, including leading cross-functional teams in cloud migrations.
• Proven experience in infrastructure rationalization, modernization and automation in a large enterprise, and hands-on vendor and system integrator management.
• Experience with data security, privacy, business continuity and disaster recovery requirements; mining industry experience preferred.
• Valid EB/Code 08 driver's licence and a medical certificate of fitness; occasional travel may be required.
