Technology Lead, Automation (Global Markets Technology)

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for a Technology Lead, Automation within its Global Markets Technology team in Johannesburg. The role leads and manages Software Quality Engineers across 3 to 5 delivery teams of 15 to 25 people, and is accountable for the engineering delivery of technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Scope, plan, design and deliver end-to-end solutions against required standards and timelines.
• Oversee technical solution delivery: interpret business requirements, define technical tasks, engineer quality software, perform end-to-end testing and troubleshoot software and database issues.
• Lead, manage and mentor Software Quality Engineers to build and improve engineering capability.
• Follow agreed development methodologies and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to meet targets.
• Build, code and review user and system interfaces, including menus, dialogues, inputs, reports, validation, access, security, audit controls and recovery routines.
• Conduct quality assurance, approve code for production deployment and run end-to-end system and program tests, preparing and reviewing test cases.
• Improve team flow and remove blockers, and direct incident resolution and remediation actions.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Technology.
• 5-7 years: proven ability to work as a team leader and as a member of a small technical team in an agile environment, with a track record of coaching staff; minimum 1-2 years as a manager of a portfolio of 10+ technical experts.
• 8-10 years: broad experience turning business and functional requirements into technical specifications and writing the code.
