Enrolled Nurse – Theatre (Operating Room) – Pretoria

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse will provide direct and indirect nursing care within the operating theatre, supporting the Registered Nurse and anaesthetic team. The role involves preparing the theatre, maintaining sterility, and assisting during surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care according to the Enrolled Nurse scope of practice.
• Prepare the operating theatre, manage stock, and ensure instrument availability.
• Maintain aseptic technique when opening packs and consumables.
• Assist the anaesthetist during induction and support patient positioning and transfer.
• Execute procedures in line with hospital standards and maintain accurate documentation.
• Control costs through safe and economical use of supplies and equipment.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant working environment.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Enrolled Nurse qualification with current SANC registration.
• Minimum 5 years experience as an Enrolled Nurse, including post‑operative and floor nursing.
• Experience assisting in anaesthetics and strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient safety.
• Understanding of infection control and prevention practices.
