Enrolled Nurse – Auxiliary (Johannesburg)

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse – Auxiliary will be based at Life Nkanyisa Siyathuthuka Care Centre in Johannesburg, reporting to the Unit Manager. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality patient care while supporting the centre’s quality management and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in quality programmes, complete monthly evaluator cards and attend ward and review meetings to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System.
• Apply infection‑control standards and PPE procedures, and uphold safety measures throughout the shift.
• Maintain accurate stock records, report patient discharges or transfers, and ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide direct patient care in line with nursing care plans, including hygiene, comfort, wound care, fluid monitoring and preparation for surgical or diagnostic procedures.
• Support internal and external customers, assist new staff with orientation, and work flexible hours to cover staffing needs.

Required profile

• Matric certificate and Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary qualification.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) or equivalent regulatory body.
• Experience in a general hospital or health‑care facility; knowledge of the private health‑care sector is an advantage.
• Strong problem‑solving, resilience and communication abilities.
