Engineering Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to own end‑to‑end delivery at SearchApi, allowing the founder to focus on strategic direction. You will run cadences, track projects, surface risks early, and act as the first escalation point when incidents occur.

Key responsibilities

• Run planning, stand‑ups and retrospectives that are lightweight and effective.
• Maintain visibility of every active project, surface risks before they become fires, and own delivery metrics such as cycle time, review latency and reliability.
• Lead incident response, coordinate teams, and conduct blameless post‑mortems that drive real improvements.
• Conduct 1:1s, coach engineers, and build a hiring pipeline with high‑bar job descriptions, scorecards and interview screens.
• Use AI tools to streamline planning, summaries and drafts while understanding their limits.

Required profile

• Proven track record of shipping delivery improvements with measurable before‑and‑after results.
• Technical depth sufficient to read pull requests, design documents and earn engineers’ trust.
• Comfortable making unpopular decisions, explaining them clearly, and owning outcomes without writing most of the code.
• Experience leading small, high‑performing teams in a fast‑moving, bootstrapped environment.
