Employee Relations Officer

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Employee Relations Officer to join our HR team in a dynamic hospitality environment. The role supports operational management by handling employee relations matters, ensuring legal compliance, and reducing organisational risk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end support on misconduct, incapacity, grievances and conflict resolution.
• Represent the organisation in external dispute resolution processes, including CCMA proceedings.
• Engage regularly with trade unions, participating in wage negotiations, consultations and dispute management.
• Draft and review disciplinary documentation, policies and outcome reports with high accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, internal policies and collective agreements.
• Facilitate disciplinary hearings and investigations, maintaining procedural and substantive fairness.
• Support line management with guidance on best practices and risk mitigation.
• Monitor compliance matters such as orders and labour inspections, and maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Labour Relations or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Employee Relations role.
• Proven experience dealing with trade unions, wage negotiations and CCMA cases.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA).
• High attention to detail, strong administrative capability and ability to manage multiple matters concurrently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, professional integrity and confidentiality.
