Emergency Doctor

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a qualified Emergency Doctor to deliver safe, high‑quality clinical care in its emergency centre. The successful candidate will assess, diagnose, treat and disposition patients in line with best‑practice standards while contributing to the department’s teaching and quality initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence‑based clinical care to all patients presenting to the emergency centre.
• Support nursing staff with triage processes and ensure adherence to protocols.
• Assist in teaching and coordinating clinical development programmes to improve patient outcomes.
• Participate in company strategies such as PatientsFirst@Mediclinic and quality‑improvement projects.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emergency medicine standards and practices.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MB BCh or MB ChB) – essential.
• Completion of internship and community service years.
• Desirable: Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (Dip PEC) or MPhil.
• Desirable: Post‑community‑service experience in an emergency centre within a private or public hospital.

Required skills

• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
• Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Proficiency with the South African Triage Scale.
