Electronic Technician – Production (Grade A) – Naval Base Durban

About the role

The South African Navy is recruiting three Electronic Technicians (Grade A) to work on fire‑control systems at Naval Base Durban. The role involves maintaining, repairing and testing electronic equipment in a defence environment, ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned maintenance, repair and testing of electronic systems according to job cards and established procedures.
• Interpret technical drawings and work dossiers, record equipment failures and manage spare‑part orders.
• Prepare and submit technical reports documenting maintenance actions and test results.
• Ensure occupational safety compliance and follow safe operating procedures.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to research and development activities.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Current registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
• Valid driver’s licence and proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work dossiers.
• Willingness to undergo security clearance and suitability checks.
