Electrical Engineer – Turret Systems (Lyttelton Campus)

About the role

The Electrical Engineer will design, develop, integrate, test and support electrical sub‑systems and harnesses for land combat platforms, including turret control, fire‑control systems and vehicle electrical architectures. The position ensures that all electrical components meet technical, quality and performance standards throughout development, qualification, production and legacy support.

Key responsibilities

• Design and integrate electrical sub‑systems for turret control, stabilisation, weapon actuation and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Develop turret power distribution, harnesses, wiring looms and interconnect solutions.
• Integrate electrical interfaces between turret drives, sensors, actuators, gun control units and operator consoles.
• Support fire‑control system integration, ensuring compatibility of computers, sensors, laser range finders, ballistic computers and stabilised gun control.
• Design vehicle electrical architectures and implement wiring systems linking power distribution, mission computers and turret subsystems.
• Verify compliance with MIL‑STD‑1275, MIL‑STD‑461 and MIL‑STD‑810 through integration, verification, troubleshooting and qualification testing.
• Maintain Interface Control Documents, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and system architecture documentation.
• Provide technical support during platform integration, field trials and legacy system support.

Required profile

• Proven ability to ensure compliance with military electrical standards (MIL‑STD‑1275, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑810).
• Experience delivering reliable electrical performance, signal integrity and power stability in complex vehicle systems.
