Electrical / Electronics Production Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical/Electronics Production Technician to join a space communication division. The role involves hands‑on assembly, integration and testing of high‑rate RF and digital communication units that will operate in orbit.

Key responsibilities

• Perform assembly, integration and testing (AIT) of RF and digital communication units, including fine‑pitch PCB assembly, wiring, cable harnesses and mechanical integration.
• Conduct functional, environmental and RF performance testing using spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power meters.
• Troubleshoot analogue, digital and RF circuits at component level, adhering to ESD, cleanliness and FOD control standards.
• Support qualification and acceptance test campaigns such as thermal cycling, vibration and thermal‑vacuum (TVAC) testing.
• Develop test jigs and create work instructions.

Required profile

• B‑Tech Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Production Technician working with RF and communication systems in an electronic manufacturing environment.
• South African citizenship or a valid work permit.

Required skills

• Fine‑pitch PCB assembly and cable‑harness fabrication.
• RF testing using spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power meters.
• Component‑level fault finding on analogue, digital and RF circuits.
• Reading engineering drawings, schematics and bills of materials.
• ESD handling, clean‑room practices and FOD control.
• Experience with thermal cycling, vibration and thermal‑vacuum test procedures.
• Test jig development and work‑instruction creation.
