About the role
The Earthmoving Mechanic will inspect, service, repair and maintain earthmoving equipment within a workshop environment for Excavo Mining. The position is based in Bankfontein and reports to the Engineering – EX department.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and service earthmoving equipment.
- Perform daily inspections, identify faults and report findings to G.E.S.
- Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections and repairs.
- Test‑drive machines to ensure smooth operation.
Required profile
- Strong verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
- Leadership abilities.
- Planning and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Medical fitness records.
Required skills
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Earthmoving Mechanic trade test certification.
- Minimum five years’ experience with opencast mining equipment.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act (MHSA).
- Computer literacy.
