Dispatch Controller – Supply Chain Management

About the role

The Dispatch Controller will oversee the end‑to‑end supply chain process for a bakery, ensuring that products are received, dispatched, and returned efficiently and safely. You will lead a high‑performing dispatch team, optimise vehicle loading, and drive continuous improvement across the function.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee on‑time, in‑full (OTIF) deliveries by loading vehicles with the correct quantity and quality of products according to customer requirements.
• Achieve cost‑effective bakery deliveries through accurate route capacity planning, communication with dispatch staff and suppliers, and adherence to the DRM/vehicle route allocation list.
• Prevent waste by enforcing proper stock rotation and food‑safety standards in line with dispatch SOPs.
• Recruit, train, coach and supervise the dispatch team to maintain high performance and compliance with the Premier Way.
• Implement operational controls to reduce theft, damage, and crate discrepancies; complete daily off‑load and return reconciliations.
• Collate daily loading requirements to align production schedules with site SOPs and process checklists.
• Collect, analyse and report dispatch performance against budget and cost targets to support fact‑based decision‑making and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent; tertiary qualification in logistics or supply‑chain management is advantageous.
• 3‑5 years of warehouse and inventory management experience in the FMCG sector.
• 2‑3 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of dispatch SOPs, supply‑chain principles, budgeting, health & safety, and food‑safety requirements.
• Ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement and effective communication.
