Design Mechanical Engineer - Composites

About the role

A specialist engineering business working in advanced composites and carbon-fibre component design is looking for a Design Engineer to join its engineering and product development team. The role covers full-cycle design, from concept and CAD modelling through prototyping, FEA analysis, process documentation and production support, including high-performance mechanical components for automotive, motorsport, industrial and safety-critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret design briefs and perform CAD design for manufacture.
• Produce detailed drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop prototypes and support product testing.
• Conduct FEA analysis and interpret results.
• Create and maintain process documentation and run experiments, compiling reports.
• Support production process development, troubleshoot manufacturing issues and communicate with clients.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• 5+ years' experience in an engineering environment.
• Experience with composites or carbon-fibre components (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of engineering processes and project workflows.
• Independent, practical and accurate, with excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software (essential)
• FEA analysis
