Deputy Director – System Manager eCares (ECD Centres)

About the role

The Deputy Director will lead the provincial eCares system, ensuring its performance, adoption and alignment with the EMIS environment. This senior position combines technical oversight with stakeholder coordination across national, provincial and district levels.

Key responsibilities

• Manage provincial eCares system performance, usage monitoring and compliance with data workflows.
• Lead first‑line help‑desk support, user access, roles and permissions for PED users.
• Conduct user training, capacity building and ongoing education on new releases, functional improvements and reporting dashboards.
• Develop and execute test plans, record User Acceptance Testing (UAT) outcomes and provide feedback to developers.
• Validate system enhancements, resolve technical issues and maintain alignment between eCares and EMIS masterlists.
• Support provincial reporting needs, ensuring data accuracy and proper EMIS number allocation.

Required profile

• SAQA‑recognised NQF Level 7 qualification in Information Systems, ICT, Computer Science, Data or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in systems administration and user support.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel extensively.
• Strong analytical, data‑manipulation and reporting capabilities (advanced Excel).
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑level stakeholders and work independently.
