BI Analyst

About the role

Candide, an AI-first tech company based in the Cape Winelands, builds the digital platforms behind luxury hospitality and lifestyle estates. It is hiring a BI Analyst for its Insights & Predictive Analytics pod, which owns everything from the semantic model to the person using the data. The role turns business questions into trusted reports and analysis, and suits a strong intermediate-level analyst who enjoys delivering and learning a business quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Learn each business area you cover, work with owners on what they need to see, and propose metrics and indicators through the pod's metric governance.
• Turn requests into reports: requirements, build, checks, release and handover, using the pod's shared, certified models and standards.
• Write and interpret SQL, check numbers against sources and existing reports, and follow the testing and release process.
• Point out trends and early warnings, turn one-off analysis into reusable reporting, and contribute to forecasting and predictive work.
• Help teams find answers through self-service and AI tools, document your work, train users and retire unused reports.
• Work closely with the pod, pair with the Data Analyst, and share knowledge and ideas.

Required profile

• A relevant tertiary degree (e.g. Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or Business Analytics).
• Typically 3+ years in BI or data analysis with a record of delivering reports people use.
• Fast, organised delivery across several requests, with close attention to detail.
• Clear communication with non-technical people and openness to review and feedback.
• Practical, critical use of AI tools in your own work.

Required skills

• Hands-on Power BI or a comparable BI tool (data modelling, measures/DAX, data preparation and publishing).
• Strong SQL.
• Advantageous: cloud data platform such as BigQuery, forecasting or statistical analysis in Python or R, hospitality or financial reporting experience, version control for BI work, and Afrikaans.
