Deputy Director: Costing and Pricing

About the role

The General and Public Works (GPW) is recruiting a Deputy Director: Costing and Pricing based in Pretoria. The position carries a salary of R 932 292 per annum (Level 11, all-inclusive package) and focuses on developing, maintaining and managing the costing and pricing systems used in cost proposals and bids.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the costing and pricing system, and oversee the gathering and verification of pricing data and unit costs.
• Maintain data accumulation and reporting systems for policies, work in progress, standard cost and selling price, and advise staff on pricing strategies and compliance with proposal rules.
• Manage cost proposal modifications, collect cost and pricing data for bids (including in-country and market data), develop proposal templates and report on material costing.
• Calculate work centre rates, allocate indirect and variable costs to cost centres, manage total manufacturing cost and close out jobs as finished goods.
• Analyse labour utilisation, raw material consumption, efficiencies and process adherence, and review quarterly standard stock cost versus selling price and purchase price variance reports.
• Monitor equipment use and maintenance, evaluate subordinate performance, build staff capacity, develop job descriptions, enforce workplace discipline and manage leave.

Required profile

• Grade 12 plus a degree (NQF level 7) in Cost and Management Accounting or BCom Finance majoring in Costing.
• At least 3 years' experience at Assistant Director level in a costing and pricing, estimation or accounting environment.
• Knowledge of the Public Service Regulatory Framework, the PFMA, National Treasury regulations and cost accounting practice.
• Understanding of public service policies, the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, the Labour Relations Act and the PFMA.
• Valid driver's licence.
